Melanie Nolker started creating art in her middle years. Encouraged by her husband and children, she began with watercolor and then discovered the joy of color and texture through the use of oil paints and a palette knife.

She considers herself an expressionist in her use of color and an impressionist in style and subject matter. She uses the color palette of Monet. Through her art, she hopes to share the joy of color as well as the joy that she feels when creating art.
