Stolen Gustav Klimt Painting Found Behind a Secret Pane in the Very Building It Was Stolen From
A gardener found 'Portrait of a Lady,' a Gustav Klimt painting stolen in 1997. It was found in a black bag and originally mistaken for a sack of trash. The gardener was clearing ivy from the building’s walls, the foliage of which had been concealing a metal panel. After prying it open, a small alcove was revealed, inside was a black bag containing the missing canvas...valued at $66 million!
