Francisco J. J. C. Masseria born April 7th, 1926 in Parana, Argentina, and died 2002 in Rome, Italy. Masseria evidenced a talent for art when he was quite young, his first achievement, at the age of fourteen, when exhibiting at the Salon Annuale of Entre Rios, where he earned his first gold medal. His father, Joseph, encourage his son to pursue his talent as a ‘self taught’ artist.

At first glance, Masseria’s paintings appear to be exquisitely classic.  One may first be drawn by the luminous, angelic faces and the serene gaze of the untroubled, of the Renaissance. Then juxtaposed are the backgrounds, with a breadth of another time and place, whirling texturally, and swirling impasto.  The juxtaposition of classic realism with the abstract,  Masseria achieved remarkable tension and release, the heartbeat of any art form.
